Cosmo · v3 · expressions + accessories
v3 builds on the silhouette you locked from v2 — the Modal (head + Signal yellow body band, Susan Kare Happy-Mac descendant). v2 is untouched at design/cosmo-pixel-v2/ for comparison. v3 adds a small smile to the canonical face, then varies face for six expression states (mapped to the bible's six gestures + product moments) and adds four accessories tied to the work Cosmo does (listening to source, reading source, scanning, on-duty).
Six expressions
Same Modal body across all six. Face varies. Each maps to one of the bible's gesture states + the product moment that triggers it. Body band stays Signal yellow throughout — Cosmo is on duty even while sleeping.
Four accessories
Same Modal body + at-rest face across all four. Carbon-only additions (no extra Signal — body band is already the single accent). Each accessory ties to a specific product moment Cosmo embodies.
Scale · expression states
Each expression at native 16×16 plus 24 / 32 / 48 / 96 / 240 px renders. Designed at 16, holds at every larger size. Below 16, switch to the Signal block alone.
Grounds · expressions
Each expression on Paper, Mist, Carbon, Signal. The Modal's Carbon outline disappears against Carbon — what remains visible is the Paper interior with eyes/mouth, and the Signal body band. Reads cleanly across all four grounds.
Grounds · accessories
All four accessories on Paper, Mist, Carbon, Signal. Headphones earcups protrude outside the head outline — they retain their Carbon shape on Carbon ground because they're outside the head silhouette.
In context
How Cosmo's expression states read inside actual product chrome — activation feed (right state per row) and sidebar avatar (state changes with what Cosmo's doing).
What this gives you · what's open
v3 builds the gesture-state vocabulary the bible specified, plus four product-themed accessories. v2 is preserved at cosmo-pixel-v2/ for direct comparison — same Modal silhouette, different expression / accessory surface area.
Decisions you can make from here
Lock the canonical Cosmo state set: at rest is the default, the other five expressions cover the bible's gesture vocabulary. Pick whether the accessory variants are part of the canonical set (used in product chrome) or only marketing flair (used in social / brand-guidelines surfaces).
Asymmetry pass: none of the v3 SVGs are asymmetric yet (the bible specifies "asymmetry encouraged — slightly tilted poses, off-center features"). Once a state set is locked, refinement adds: one eye drops one row, the smile shifts one pixel off-center, etc. Easy to add; held for now to keep the set internally consistent for comparison.
What's deliberately not here yet
v3 module shape with rounded corners. Could soften the "block" feel further if you want to push friendlier. Currently the corners are sharp, matching v2-05 exactly.
Cosmo-on-Signal-ground variants. When the body lives on a Signal-yellow ground, the band's Signal disappears and the Paper-bodied face floats. Reads OK but not perfectly. Solvable with a Carbon-band variant of each expression for use on Signal grounds — only build if you ship a Signal-ground surface that hosts Cosmo.
Animated states. Pixel art animates well — at-rest can have a subtle breathing motion, listening can have eye-track frames, working can have a pulsing focus dot. Wave 4+ if a use case demands it.
